About Morgan Porter Design

Morgan Porter Design is one designer – Morgan Porter. I have been working as a graphic designer since 1999. I’ve created logos, visual identities, websites, posters and brochures for small businesses, start-ups, non-profits and large global corporations.

Although I usually handle projects on my own I occasionally call upon the support of a highly skilled network of creatives and technical specialists.

Despite the fact that I do work on a computer, I am not a computer programmer. I am an artist. When developing more complex projects that are beyond my technical knowledge I work side-by-side with programmers to create a user experience that is clean, professional and user-friendly.

Graphic Design

So what does a graphic designer do? Essentially we make things look good.

A graphic designer works on everything from websites to logos to posters. Designers work on anything a business (or organization or band or professional) puts in front of their target audience to assure that the business is presented in a professional way.

Cost

So how much will this cost?

That’s like asking how much it will cost to build a house. It all depends on what you want.

I develop customized graphic solutions. I don’t work from pre-created templates (a cheaper but less professional alternative). Everything I create for a client becomes their property. It is unique and professional.

Because I am independent you save money by avoiding a middleman or contracting agency who would mark up my work 50 to 100 percent. By cutting out the middle man you reduce the overall cost, but keep all the quality.

Background

In high school I took some computer science courses. One week of those classes was about HTML and how to build a webpage. After a week of instruction, I created my first web site. My main concern was how do I change the font and make it look good.

That class combined with my artistic ability led me to the Communication Art + Design Department at Virginia Commonwealth University. Throughout school I was always working as a designer for local businesses - gradually gaining knowledge and experience that I use to this day in every site or printed piece I develop.

I graduated from VCU, obtaining a BFA in Graphic Design and now work for many different businesses.
